Course Instructors

Instructor Ashleigh VanHouten

One of the first 50 people to complete the original Primal Health Coach Certification Course, Ashleigh VanHouten also holds a number of other certifications in nutrition, applied women’s physiology, and strength training. In addition to this course, she has developed a range of coaching programs and seminars for women aimed at improving physical strength, overall wellness, and a deeper understanding of our bodies. Ashleigh has a background in swimming, powerlifting, and CrossFit and is a former nationally ranked natural figure competitor. Ashleigh is also the host of the “Muscle Science for Women” podcast, which has more than 1.6 million downloads. She interviews some of the leading minds in exercise and nutrition methodology and overall wellness and has dedicated much of her career to exploring and teaching ancestral-based nutrition practices. She was a writer for Paleo Magazine for ten years, has contributed to MarksDailyApple.com, and wrote one of the only nose-to-tail, organ-meat-centric cookbooks in existence called It Takes Guts. Her second book, Carnivore-ish, highlights the benefits of a whole-foods, protein-centric approach.

Instructor Danny Coleman

Danny Coleman is an author, entrepreneur, and health coach with 15 years of experience working in the health and fitness industry. As the former Head of Coaching for a $1M coaching program, Danny helped coaches develop skills to facilitate behavior change and analyzed thousands of coaching calls. Over the past 12 years, Danny has read more than 500 books on psychology, human development, business, and health and is the author of "Next Level Tribe," a book that explores how to build meaningful connections with people. Danny is the host of the Take Care Radio podcast and owner of Take Care Coaching where he helps leaders and coaches develop social and emotional intelligence.

Senior Instructor Erin Power

For 25 years, Erin Power balanced her full-time Marketing and Advertising career with a part-time career in the fitness industry as a trainer and fitness instructor. She made the leap to full-time health coaching in 2004, and in that time has helped over 600 individual clients find freedom from food fixation, and achieve an effortless relationship with food. These days she's one of the leaders at the helm of developing curriculum for Primal Health Coach Institute®, and supporting the business development efforts of our graduates. She's also the co-host of Health Coach Radio, the podcast by health coaches, for health coaches.
